BUS TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

I hold monthly meetings with the supervisors from Portage County with several from Summit Co and occasionally Trumbull Co. I provide Inservice opportunities for both drivers and mechanics each year. State law requires the ESC to issue bus driver certificates each year certifying that the drivers from the local schools are qualified. I operate as a clearinghouse for any transportation issues. The ESC provides meeting space for Keith Parker who is this area’s bus driver trainer. These consist of week long courses for novice drivers and 3 day courses for veteran drivers on a 5 year rotation cycle.

Bus Road-E-O

For at least the last four years the Northeast Ohio Region B Road-E-O has been hosted by a school in Portage County. Last two years - Streetsboro, with the two before that Kent.

Region B is made up of Portage, Summit, Geauga, Lake, and Ashtabula Counties.
This year 142 drivers competed in the all day event. Nine drivers will advance to the state competition in Reynoldsburg.
