PORTAGE
OPPORTUNITY SCHOOL
This
program is a collaborative between the Portage County Educational Service
Center and the Six District Compact in Summit County. The program provides
educational opportunities, mental health and chemical dependency counseling
and vocational exploration activities for students as a alternative to
out of school suspension and expulsion for students. Goals of the program
include credit recovery, increased attendance, personal growth/skills,
improved grades/academic success and prepare students to return to their
home schools to successfully continue their educational program or to
graduate.
IN
SCHOOL RESTRICTION
In some instances, services for in school restriction are provided to
school districts as space and resources allow.

ALTERNATIVE
LEARNING SETTING
This program serves only students with a current Individualized Education
Plan and are experiencing a lack of school success due to suspension,
expulsion, or challenging behaviors. It meets the requirements of I.D.E.A.
in providing an alternative educational environment for specials needs
students. The program provides academic and behavioral interventions by
licensed, qualified teachers, educational assistants and counselors.
